Travel Blog - Italy Pt 3: Amalfi Coast

Ciao Amalfi!

Welcome to part 3 of 4 in our Italian adventures! If you’ve made it this far, you know that Mario and I started our trip in Northern Italy, then made our way down to the Tuscany — the birthplace of the renaissance.

After exploring the highlights of the first 1/2 of Italy, we made our way further south to the Amalfi Coast. We stayed at a little villa called Villa Salice in the actual town of Amalfi in hopes to rest a little bit from the nonstop walking we had been doing thus far… but funny enough this part of our trip ended up being the most active! We really wanted to do the Path of the Gods hike: a roughly 6 mile trail that passes through several towns in the Amalfi Coast, ending in the picturesque town of — you guessed it — Positano!

We had so much fun taking in more of the natural landscape of Italy. The weather was so perfect and the views were incredible.

Aside from the hike, our stay along the Amalfi was unfortunately a tad disappointing, and we ended up cutting our time here a day early. Ultimately, we felt less “at home” in the area compared to the other cities we had been to… although we completely understand why the locals aren’t as keen to visitors as they maybe once were since it’s completely ridden with tourism. So, after our day of hiking and resting up back at our villa, we decided to move on to the next city on our itinerary.

Despite some of the setbacks, I’ll never forget the wonderful time in nature we had in Amalfi. I also wanted to shout out our villa host, Luigi, who was super accommodating during our stay and the woman who owned the Cocktail Bar down the street of our villa. She was such a lovely soul, and we loved her 2 cats that kept coming up to us to be pet!
